Any thoughts on what kind of cover this needs?

Any thoughts on what kind of cover this needs? Bear in mind it's primary/secondary and focused on ER (not readers). Also, all feedback welcome!

  1. Hi Catherine, You should be able to see the whole book. Just the cover needs fixing (plus the title) and I'm wondering what comes to mind for a cover when you see the content!

  2. Remember that a cover doesn't have to illustrate what's inside--it can also set the mood. Like Aziz's cover for his games book--it doesn't show a game at all, but it's playful, so it shows the mood of games. So you could do cheerful primary and/or secondary colors to suggest kids and happiness. You could also have a photo of kids reading, or a kids' library, something like that.

  3. I like the photo Dorothy suggested. I do have some illustrations I could scan in and share with you of kids reading. That's if you want an illustration. I'd also suggest a geometric design of some kind - in nice bright colors.

  4. Good point, Dorothy! You'll remember that the last one had a detailed magical kind of look and very primary, but I want something different this time (problem is, I'm trying to finish a book by Thursday's deadline, eek). Leonie - you're big on reading, so any ideas you have would be more than welcome!

  5. I was just looking through my stock folder, and found a few that I think could work. Since google will only let me upload one in each comment, this is from Pixabay

  6. If I remember correctly, my search term was 'children reading'

  7. I like the first two Barbara posted--the last one might be too hard to add text on top of, though, as it's pretty busy. Kate Cory-Wright, if you have time, why not try several of those images and put the title on, and then post them for us to look at?

  8. Barbara - thank you so much. The middle one looks lovely, as it suggests older children reading on their own, which is the goal. Greatly appreciated!
