In case this is useful for anyone else.

In case this is useful for anyone else... I last used Google Plus some time ago, and the format and look and everything seems completely different now. Several times I hit 'enter' to post a comment, and then ... well, it didn't post, because I hadn't hit "post," and I didn't even notice. http://ansonalex.com/tutorials/google-plus-keyboard-shortcuts/ http://ansonalex.com/tutorials/google-plus-keyboard-shortcuts/

Hello there.

Hello there. I'm Ruthie Iida and I live and work in Japan. I'm the owner of and head teacher at a private language school for children and young adults. During the week we teach nursery age through junior high students, and on Saturdays we focus on high school and college students. I just finished getting my Master's degree in TESOL and am busy trying to implement what I learned about language acquisition so my students will grow up to USE and SPEAK English. I also have a huge closet full of crazy alphabet and phonics prints that I've made through the years and a MacBook full of papers, articles, and potential blog posts about language and language acquisition. I write and write, but never know what to do with the fruits of my labours. Do you see why I need to take this course? I may not be able to attend many of the live sessions, but I'll do my best to keep up with the work, read others' work, and comment in the community. Looking forward to meeting everyone ...

Hi everybody

Hi everybody, Glad to meet you all here in this amazing iTDi learning journey. I'm Aziz Soubai from Morocco. I'm an EFL teacher with 8 years of classroom practice. I have a huge interest in online learing , language games and educational technolgy. I learnt a lot from iTDi professional development courses and I feel that I still need to learn more. Publishing my own ELT materials will be a huge accomplishment form me. And I think Dorothy is the perfect person to show us the the inns and outs of self-publishing. Regards

Hello everyone.

Hello everyone. I am from Poland, but I have been living and working in Greece for 18 years now. A great part of my teaching experience is with very young learners (2-6), and in tertiary education teaching Academic English and Methodology (including Materials Evaluation and Design) units to BA and MA students, but I have taught other age groups and levels too. I am also a storyteller for (very) young learners and I volunteer with my storytelling sessions at the local library. My ELT-related experience also involves serving as the vice-chair of TESOL Macedonia-Thrace and the Editor in Chief of our e-bulletin in the recent past. I am passionate about incorporating social issues into ELT and I design my own materials, some of which I publish on my blog http://eltforabetterworld.blogspot.gr/ . I want to get more involved in materials writing and teach less - long teaching hours have taken toll on my health (those poor vocal cords can't take hours of talking anymore), but I also feel t...

Hello!

Hello! Michael Free here, coming to you from Gangneung, South Korea (where the ice sports for the 2018 Winter Olympics will be held). I work at a small university out here, primarily teaching English skills / conversation courses. I also teach a couple of content-based courses: one in film, and one in music history. I've never published anything, self- or otherwise, but I'm keen to learn if any of the ideas I have are worth pursuing. Happy to meet you all and glad to see some familiar faces!

Hi - as you can see, my name is Leonie.

Hi - as you can see, my name is Leonie. I'm way beyond the age of consent, having been born just past the middle of the last century, in South Africa. I currently live and work in South Korea. Last year my daughter, who had been living with me, died, and I've decided it's high time I publish some of the children's stories we did together - she wrote and I illustrated. I also have a stack of stories and lessons and things I've developed and used in classes here in South Korea that I want to get out into the wider world. I'm really excited about joining this course!

Hello, I am Grazzia Maria from Honduras.

Hello, I am Grazzia Maria from Honduras. I love to travel and learn from different cultures, while I attend conferences and grow professionally. My experience in writing so far has merely focused on writing essays or articles for small newsletters. I got a paper accepted for The IATEFL Learning Technologies SIG is planning an edited volume in collaboration with TESOL's CALL Interest Section: Teaching English Reflectively with Technology. It will be coming out possibly soon. I have had the chance of developing materials for teacher trainings for teachers in my country, so I felt this could be a chance to make an effort and complete this idea of publishing that I have had for a while. I am looking forward to learning and collaborating with all of you! Thanks Dorothy and iTDi for the opportunity, I truly appreciate it!

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm an ELT writer, based in Ecuador. I've had more than 25 books published, mostly primary course books, but also secondary and adult. This will be my third iTDi course so far this year and I really hope to end up with an ebook, after planning for so long to do this. I'm looking forward to working with you all and to learning from Dorothy.

Hello all.

Hello all. My name is Patrice and I currently reside in Canada (but always looking for a reason to travel). My first self-published book Successful Group Work comes out in July. I worked with Walton Burns at Alphabet Publishing so I really did not learn the process of self-publishing since Walton did all the heavy lifting. I'm keen to learn how to do this and actually produce something as part of this course, and moving forward. I have a lot of ideas and some content that is ready to go. I'm excited to learn from Dorothy, and meet all of you.

Welcome!

Welcome! Can we write a book in a month? Sure we can! Unless you're writing "War and Peace"--then it may be a few chapters. But the process will be the same. There's a certain satisfaction, however, in holding a finished 'something' in your hand (whether your physical hand or your virtual hand), so I'll encourage you to consider a project of a manageable size. Think how good it will feel to write "The End" at the end. :) We'll talk on the first day about what sorts of materials are suitable for self-publishing, but if you get here early, you can use this time to look through old worksheets and notebooks and writing you've done in the past to see if have anything saved that you might want to develop further. Or you could just start brainstorming a quick list of ideas of things you might like to publish, so you'll have something in mind when we start to analyze them. This would also be a good time to make a separate folder for class mat...
