Hi everybody, Glad to meet you all here in this amazing iTDi learning journey. I'm Aziz Soubai from Morocco. I'm an EFL teacher with 8 years of classroom practice. I have a huge interest in online learing , language games and educational technolgy. I learnt a lot from iTDi professional development courses and I feel that I still need to learn more. Publishing my own ELT materials will be a huge accomplishment form me. And I think Dorothy is the perfect person to show us the the inns and outs of self-publishing. Regards
Hi Catherine, You should be able to see the whole book. Just the cover needs fixing (plus the title) and I'm wondering what comes to mind for a cover when you see the content!
ReplyDeleteRemember that a cover doesn't have to illustrate what's inside--it can also set the mood. Like Aziz's cover for his games book--it doesn't show a game at all, but it's playful, so it shows the mood of games. So you could do cheerful primary and/or secondary colors to suggest kids and happiness. You could also have a photo of kids reading, or a kids' library, something like that.
ReplyDeleteI like the photo Dorothy suggested. I do have some illustrations I could scan in and share with you of kids reading. That's if you want an illustration. I'd also suggest a geometric design of some kind - in nice bright colors.
ReplyDeleteGood point, Dorothy! You'll remember that the last one had a detailed magical kind of look and very primary, but I want something different this time (problem is, I'm trying to finish a book by Thursday's deadline, eek). Leonie - you're big on reading, so any ideas you have would be more than welcome!
ReplyDeleteI was just looking through my stock folder, and found a few that I think could work. Since google will only let me upload one in each comment, this is from Pixabay

If I remember correctly, my search term was 'children reading'
ReplyDeleteI like the first two Barbara posted--the last one might be too hard to add text on top of, though, as it's pretty busy. Kate Cory-Wright, if you have time, why not try several of those images and put the title on, and then post them for us to look at?
ReplyDeleteGood idea. Thanks, DZ!
ReplyDeleteBarbara - thank you so much. The middle one looks lovely, as it suggests older children reading on their own, which is the goal. Greatly appreciated!
