Assignment #2 -- Can it be done?

Assignment #2 -- Can it be done?

•What will the final product look like—text? images? size? format? length?
All text. I’m not sure about images. If I can find something that relates to or conveys the concepts in each section that would be good. An abstract image or illustration that runs throughout the book would be cool. It would be similar to a 50 Ways book from Wayzgoose.

I’m not sure about the size either. It depends on how much I write. 50+ ideas at about 250 words each is 12,500. Plus an introduction and a bit of a conclusion or “Next steps” makes the total at 15,000. It might go longer than that, but I don’t want it to be more than 20,000 words.

•How much have I already written? How much is left to do?
Maybe about 30-50% of it is already written. These are pieces that are cut from my bigger book project as well as blog posts. I also have a lot of ideas from presentations I’ve given. But I would have to do the write up for each of these ideas.

•How much of the thinking/planning have I already done? How much is left to do?
My plan has changed even as I was thinking & brainstorming these past few days. I realized that I have enough material to focus specifically on developing reflective attitudes. I need to do some more planning of the overall organization.

I will continue to brainstorm ideas and also write up the ideas that I already have. With this kind of project I’ll think of more ideas as I write.

•When do I plan to write?
In the mornings this week. Next week I start a 4-week teacher training job and so I’ll have to write in the evenings and in the small gaps of time that come up.

  1. For those 50 Ways books that we wanted to be long enough to be print as well as ebook, we grouped the tips into sections, and then got one image per section (color in the ebook, black and white in the print). The images are all stock photos, and are very general--there's one with gardening tools and plants for getting ready, a lotus flower for taking care of yourself, and things like a path through the woods, hot air balloons rising. So for mood and feeling and metaphor, not direct illustration of any one tip.
